Gestürzte Erdäpfel (Spiced Potato Pudding)

1 pound waxy potatoes 4 ounces spiced sausage or bacon, rind removed butter for greasing 6 hard boiled eggs, peeled and thickly sliced 2 eggs 9 ounces soured cream salt and freshly ground pepper Directions: Heat the oven to 375°F or 190°C or gas 5. Boil the potatoes in their skins until just tender, drain and cut into slices. If using bacon, cut into dice or strips and fry lightly. Slice the sausage. Butter a deep gratin dish. Very lightly, mix together the sliced potatoes, hard boiled eggs and sausage (or bacon). Whisk together the eggs and soured cream, season with salt and pepper and pour over the potato mixture. Transfer into the gratin dish and bake until nicely browned (about 25 to 30 minutes) on top. Makes 4-6 servings.
