Coney Island Sauce
Bon Appetit

1 1/2 cups water
1 6-ounce can tomato paste
1/4 pound ground beef
1/4 cup sweet pickle relish
1 tablespoon minced onion
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon mustard
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon sugar

Directions:
Combine all ingredients in heavy large saucepan over medium heat. Cook until beef is no longer pink, stirring occasionally.

Reduce heat and simmer until sauce is brown and thickened, about 30 minutes. Can be prepared 3 days ahead. Cover and chill. Rewarm before serving. Great on hot dogs or hamburgers.

Makes about 2 1/2 cups.
